World Bathing Day

World Bathing Day takes place on June 22 and does just that—it’s an internationally-recognized day created by the Bathe the World Foundation and supported by the Global Wellness Institute’s Hot Springs Initiative that aims to honor the diverse rituals and cultural traditions that go hand-in-hand with the acts of bathing, cleansing and rejuvenation.

Founded in 1937, The World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy, gathers the public and private institutions that represent Thermal Establishments in the respective 30 member Countries. Founded in 2019, the U.S. Hot Springs Association is a non-profit trade organization. Their purpose is to bring together hot springs owners and operators from across the U.S., to collaborate and cooperate with each other in promoting the hot springs industry to the public, to share information and ideas, to influence policy, to share new technology and to work together to represent the diverse hot springs and similar businesses across the country.

Geothermal Labs

Established in 1970 by Dr. David Blackwell, SMU’s Geothermal Labs are an active research facility with a variety of ongoing geothermal resource projects. They strive to broaden the understanding and use of geothermal energy, from the simplest form - geothermal heat pumps for buildings, to the large-scale deployment of geothermal power plants providing energy for cities. Their research also explores opportunities to integrate renewable geothermal projects in an oil & gas setting.
